Join Connecting Families as one of our highly experienced and reliable casual Youth Support Workers to make a positive impact to young people’s lives!
We are currently looking for a team of reliable and dedicated Youth Workers to support an existing NGO customer with Labour Hire Services in Central Coast NSW.
About You:
- You have completed a minimum of Certificate 4 in Community Services, Youth Work, or Disability
- You have previous experience working with young people – ITC or Disability settings.
- You have the ability to connect and build rapport with the young people and show a genuine interest in their lives, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
- You have the ability to manage difficult situations and behaviours and be able to de-escalate these situations in a therapeutic way.
- You are committed to providing client-focused services with positive outcomes.
Essential requirements:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Employee – Working with Children’s Check
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks
- A valid Australian driver’s license with a reliable and comprehensively insured car
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- A current certification in Trauma Informed Care (desirable)
- Youth Mental Health First Aid (desirable)
About the role:
We want to provide a safe & loving environment. We support child and youth (0 – 18yrs) in residential settings. We are looking for a range of youth workers with a background in therapeutic intensive care, first aid mental health, and/or disability support.
The key responsibilities of a Youth Support Worker include supporting the young person to:
- Feel safe and nurtured in a stable environment.
- Feel a strong sense of identity and belonging.
- Build positive and trusting connections with family, friends and community.
- Learn and develop to their full potential.
- Make healthy lifestyle choices and access health care services.
- Develop strong social and interpersonal skills.
- Supports: Daily living, therapeutic care, mental health support, community engagement, wellbeing, education, disability (including some manual handling)
In addition to the above, your role will also include, but not limited to:
- Daily tasks can include household tasks (cooking/cleaning), transport and personal care.
- Actively participate in the adherence to care plans, allied health plans and behavioural support plans.
- Completing verbal and written reports
